Hey so ya’ll know how in The Incredibles Bob takes his ripped suit to Edna to patch? But she insists on also making him a new suit? Then later Helen notices the signs of the patch and immediately clues in that something is up? So she goes to talk to Edna and finds out Edna has not only patched Bob’s suit but made them all new suits? Which sends Helen after Bob when she realizes he’s in trouble?
That scene that has always stuck with me in that series of events is Helen noticing the patch job. It’s set up that Helen is suspicious, or at least wondering about the changes in Bob’s routine, but she doesn’t think anything terrible. Even before she sees the patch she vacuums up the dust of that self-destruct message from earlier, it signals she is on the verge of discovering Bob’s secrets.
But it’s Edna who tells Helen what is happening, through the incredibly obvious patch she does for Bob.
Because I don’t think a fabrics and textile genius like Edna Mode, who can make an indestructible suit, or a suit that can withstand 5000 degrees, would be incapable of patching a tear without any sign of that same work.
Not to mention a sloppy patch job would be an affront to Edna’s incredible sense of pride in the work she does.
So, I propose Edna purposefully patched Bob’s suit in such a way that she knew Helen would notice and come see her.
